ArcadeCab's One year Anniversary
It has been a year since the move from the old Tripod site. ArcadeCab.com has afforded me the opportunity to share my projects, interests, and hopefully some know-how with all of you.  Traffic has grown steadily since last February which is gratifying. It thrills me when a visitor takes the time to email about their project that have either begun or completed using my plans.   I plan to add more content this coming year and to actually finish some incomplete projects.

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you visit again soon.

New options for Control Panels in the Store
Three new product offerings from GroovyGameGear have been added for custom controller purchases.  You may now select from their Prodigy stick, which is a top switchable 4-way or 8-way joystick, their TopFire.  Also available is a selection of their joystick replacement shafts for those who want a somewhat different look to their controller.

More "Cab-friendly" games
If you've enjoyed the few games I've spotlighted recently, you might be interested in Timo's site.  This page includes nearly fifty games that will run great on your cabinet.  I've spotted quite a few that look very interesting and that which will be showing up on my cab soon.

Neverball and NeverputtNeverball
I discovered a fun, addicting, free download this past week called Neverball.  It is hard to describe but I will say that it is along the same lines as Hamsterball, another fantastic game that works great with a trackball on the cabinet.  The game is very challenging and is a bit nerve-wracking both to play as well as to watch.  Included in the Neverball download is Neverputt, a very cool3D mini-golf simulation that handles up to four players at a time.  I've heard that one of the holes "just has to be impossible."

New toy
I picked up a fantastic bargain off ebay a while back, a Happ "flight stick".  It is an analog flight stick and is a very sturdy piece of equipment.  It has some real heft to it!  I've yet to decide what exactly will be done with it, but I'm pretty sure it will find its way into a project in the coming months.  If you have any interesting project ideas for it, drop me a line.  I'm always interested in others' ideas.

Ultra-trackball kits available
The previously mentioned trackball panel kits are now available for purchase in the Store.  Two options are available: an MDF-only box, and a laminated shell complete with included T-molding and feet.  The box will accept either a Happ or Betson/Imperial trackball.

Upcoming addition to the Store
In the coming weeks, a 'new' product will be available for sale in the Store.  The Ultra-trackball controller will finally be offered in a kit form.  There will be two packages.  The first will include just the assembled 3/4" MDF box, ready for painting or vinyl.  The box will have the three pushbutton holes drilled, the trackball hole cut, cable-routing hole out the back cut,  include a hardboard base, and have the slot cut for your T-molding.  (Not included are the controls, T-molding, or rubber feet)

The second option will add laminate to the top and sides, just like the complete trackball unit that is currently sold.  Rubber feet will be attached and an appropriate amount of black T-molding will be included (installation will be extra).  Add your own trackball, trackball plate and pushbuttons and you'll have your own Ultra-trackball controller.

The estimated prices for the two packages will be about $17 for the first and around $32 for the laminated option.  Shipping will be just $10, insured, to most locations.  Look for them soon.

Plug
For those comic book aficionados out there, my new brother-in-law's site is a cool spot to stop by.   Scott McCullar is a gifted writer and artist, having worked for various comics publishers such as Shooting Star Comics, West End Games and DC comics.  He currently teaches art at a local college as well as being the Creative Director of Shooting Star Comics.  He has written and drawn many characters, the Green Arrow, Robin and Yellowjacket being three that  I'm the most familiar with.  Scott has even worked with Kevin Smith (of Clerks fame), which I personally find very cool.  I grew up with comic books (with a closet that currently houses many thousands of them, much to the wife's chagrin) and it is exciting to hear him talk about his work.  He is a great guy, too, that I'm proud to now count as a member of the family.  If you enjoy comics, give his site a visit at http://www.scottmccullar.com/.
