Upcoming Project
In the next couple months my brother-in-law and
myself will be embarking on a cabinet-building project. He has been
working on some special cabinet artwork so it should turn out great.
Over the last couple years, I have made some changes to the cabinet design
that both makes the cabinet better able to hold a custom controller as well
as reducing the number of complex cuts. My intention is to photograph
the entire construction process and then post another help document on the
site. So, crossing our fingers, the project should hit the site by
summer's end. The side redesign is to the right (.pdf).

"Collector's Item" for sale
I have been reorganizing my PC and
arcade parts shelves the last week and am trying to move out items that have
been unused. One of these items that has been taking up space is the
prototype for the Ultra-Trackball control panel. Seeing it again
reminded me how much the design and quality has improved. This panel
has some slight imperfections: there are two cracks in the laminate by
button hole two and three. The button will cover the crack on three
but it will show somewhat from button two. The pictures show the
details. If anyone can look past these issues in pursuit of a bargain,
I will let this "classic" go for $32 shipped (to the lower 48
states). Email me.
Last Laminate Trackball Base
I also have one final laminate
Ultra-Trackball base available (newer ones are melamine). It can be
either populated or unpopulated. Pricing is the same as the new ones.
If you'd like it, order a new one and mention in the notes you'd like the
laminated version. There are no blemishes on this one.:-)
X-arcade Trackball Assembly Promotion
Xgaming has announced a new
promotion with their trackball. They have dropped the price of the
X-Arcade
Trackball Assembly from $69.95 down to $59.95 for the month of May
only. It is a USB or PS2 connectable trackball whose appearance is
very close to the Betson. (It will fit in the
ArcadeCab trackball case,
too). From their email:
"This kit is ideal for MAME enthusiasts looking to build their own arcade machine or panel, and at $59.95 with a lifetime warranty--it's a great bargin compared to Happ or Betson Trackballs. (Priced between $80-100) with 90 day warranty."
